Welcome dear visitor or old friend. This is James “Doc” Hammond, owner and designer of Aeroic Aerospace Composites. Since you have kindly visited our website I am guessing that you might have some interest in Aeroic products – well I hope so! So, what does Aeroic offer that I think makes us stand out from many others?

Lay-up Choices: Every Aeroic model comes (S) standard 100% single carbon wing, and carbon tissue surface laminated tail planes! Light and SS (double carbon) versions are available build to order.

No Balsa: All sandwich skin surfaces use high grade aerospace foam in the laminate. This results in a finish that is not only nicer, but yields a stronger more durable structure as well.

Re-engineered Models: 100% of the current Aeroic line presented here are recently re-designed and re-tooled with all new molds. As many of you know, I fired my previous manufacturer and unfortunately in the process lost all my moulds. I took time to redesign and re-engineer all of them, hence the new models from Aeroic are very different from the originals. This can be seen by better fit and finish, servos now mounted in the fins of the airframes making installation much easier, and a variety of small fitting problems that are now entirely eliminated. However, with well thought out modifications they still fly just as well or sometimes better.

Sine Wave Spar: The Aeroic sine wave spar gives the most strength in tension and fantastic performance in torsion at half, or less than half the weight of a of a normal box spar. Only Aeroic has this technical innovation. Completeness: The Aeroic accessory package is really complete and even includes the pre-soldered wiring harness. As Red says it can be a bit frustrating to buy your model, unpack it and then start to list the other things that you ALSO have to buy to finish the model. Every small part needed to finish the model is supplied. Few if any companies supply the entire parts package that will be needed to complete the model. Materials: At Aeroic we use the best of the best. Carbon from Japan, Resin from France and other fabrics from the very best manufacturers. Spars and some other reinforcement use UHM carbon at 1,000 Psi and above. This is the best you can get for any application. Many competition model aircraft manufacturers do not use the level of materials that you get as standard from Aeroic.

Fit and Finish: Each Aeroic model is trial assembled and polished at the factory before carefully packing for export. This ensures that all the parts fit very well, and you get that nice super shiny model that you have been dreaming of. If not “European Standard” we are damn close.

Design: I’m not sure about what other designers do, but design my models by a simple process of deciding the work they will have to do, such as Aerobatics, or maybe Alpine Soaring. Then I collect all the desirable parameters and latest innovations that I think will be needed to make a first-class model in that genre. After that’s done and only after that, I endeavour to make the plane nice looking.

Performance: I have designed many model aircraft. I have sold many model aircraft. Of all the models I have sold, I have never received any bad comments about the flying performance of any model I have designed. I’m not afraid to try new things, and to test new theories. I do my very best to design models that will fly as fast well as you can fly them and for the enjoyment of guys that are better pilots than I will ever be.

Value: No, Aeroic are not the Cheapest. Yes, our models are made in China. In fact, just a little internet research will reveal that the workers in China who used to do menial jobs for very low wages have now migrated into high tech, and demand far higher pay than used to be the case 10 or 20 years ago. That includes our people. We hope that the value of the models when you, the buyer and flyer know what actually goes into them will make them an economic proposition.

Factory Practices: At Aeroic we train and pay our workers well and that’s because we want to keep them. We tell them what you guys are doing, show them Pictures and videos, and so they have a connection to the models they have made. We often discuss production issues and listen to their opinions. We put their good – sometimes great ideas into practise as well as rewarding them. We take our time making the models and use the best materials. Most other Chinese “Toy” companies have no concept of the fact that happy workers who feel they are part of a very well-organized team are the most important thing in any manufacturing company.

Non-visible things – our philosophy: As a company, we know our niche. Aeroic is a top-end sports model sailplane company that makes high performance sports models, and it’s our entire aim to provide the models that will provide the best fun that you can have in this genre. We don’t make racing models per se, though some of our airframes, in fact most of them, in their classes are easily capable of competition model performance. The Spada for example is a fully featured GoFast model that will fly as fast and well as any F3f pilot can fly it. I am the designer of Aeroic model aircraft, and as a passion I have been designing and making model planes since the early 70’s. I am possibly the most prolific non-scale model sailplane designer today, with my own and many models I have designed for other companies are still in full production. My day job used to be designing UAV’s and there I a lot of stuff flying around up there that I have had a hand in. Of course, designing those large model planes involved a lot of theory both new and old, and also the development and testing of a lot of new aerodynamic tricks, and structural innovations some of which I have used on my own models. It sounds a bit cheesy I know, but I can promise you that the greatest thrills and pleasures that I have are those that come when I see you guys, the flyers, throwing one of my models around the sky with big grins on your faces. For me that’s priceless.
